Feedback from clients who sailed with us in 2010
Sorry it has taken me over a week to contact you after returning home from our FANTASTIC holiday! We had the most brilliant time – literally the best holiday I’ve ever had, and the whole family loved it. Many thanks for your part in organising it.
I just wanted to mention a few things:
Firstly, Alex Tomboulidis was a superb skipper. He was totally in control and made us feel at ease on the boat whilst also making sure we kept to the rules! He listened carefully to what we wanted from the trip, and suggested where we went according the things we said. As a result we all got what we individually wanted from the holiday and it was so good for us as a family, too. Nothing was hurried, and he was extremely sweet about making sure we lost track of time in order to have a good break, by taking the responsibility for timing upon himself. He was also fantastic with the children who all loved him, and we genuinely continue to miss his company. It was a pleasure to share our holiday with him and we look forward to coming again we hope in the not too distant future.
We also wanted to mention the travel to and from Volos, which was not a great success on the way out, but fine on the way back. It would be good in the future if you were able to give more detailed advice about this, because we found that the bus from the airport at Thessaloniki to the bus station was dreadfully slow. As a result of this we missed the bus to Volos, but at any rate wouldn’t have been able to get on it, because it turned out we should have reserved seats, which we didn’t know. Luckily someone who spoke English at the bus station fixed us up on two buses to get us to Volos, with a change at Larissa, but it ended up being an 18 hour journey from England! So for any other clients coming to Volos on that route, you should recommend that they get a TAXI from the aiport to the town (25 euros) and then either RESERVE the express bus or else take the train (which we did on the way back, including a change at Larissa). Also a good amount of time needs to be allowed for buying train tickets which are very complicated!
Many thanks again.
With best wishes,
[Hannah and family chartered s/y El Nino, Dufour 45 classic, from Volos in May-June 2010, with skipper Alex Toumboulidis.]
We're back from our trip and just wanted to say that we had a great week, the owners are very kind people and you did a great job arranging it all!
I also read you are interested in dolphin information. We spotted 2 on Friday in Panormos bay, those you see on the pictures. And a group of at least 7 but maybe 10 joined us for about 10 minutes on the NW corner near Panagia on Tuesday in the heavy weather. Hope that helps.
Thanks and perhaps until another time,
[Rene and friends from the Netherlands chartered s/y Assante, Bavaria 36 from Volos in June 2010.]
I am attaching a brief report on our group charter, with the Bavaria 44, Calypso. I wrote the report to include in the San Luis Rey Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of the national US Power Squadrons, newsletter.
We had a great time, visiting a good number of the Cyclades. Calypso was a good boat, sailing very well. We did have most low winds, except a meltemi when we were docked in Paros and a squall, 35 kn aparent wind, when sailing from Folegrandos to Sifnos. The only missing equipment was the Chart
Plotter, part of the Equipment List that was provided. There was just a simple GPS mounted above the Navigation Desk, not very useful. It was very fortunate that I had brought a portable Garmin 76. All my navigation was done with that GPS and the on board charts. Some of the charts, Saronic and
Western Cyclades, need to be replaced.
The personnel of the Alimos Marina Management company were all very helpful. In particular we would single out Ms. Maria Keteria, who did the check out and checkin. She was wonderful. She was pleased with the way we kept the boat and ofered to give us some extra discount when we return.
For next year, beginning May, I am considering to form a group to sail the Dodecanese islands, from a base in Kos. I would appreciate if you could send me some info and prices.
I did not realize you live so far north of Athens. We hope that next time we might have opportunity to meet.
Looking forward to do further business with you.
[Mr Diehl from USA chartered s/y Calypso, a Bavaria 44, from Athens in May 2010.}
We have an absolutely fabulous time.
Reception was great.
Tina did a really good job.
Andreas was a very good Skipper and turned into a good friend as well.
Hmm, could maybe suggest the following;
- a) Route ducting for Air Condition to all cabins
- b) Install a water maker
- c) Wireless Internet (I.e., bring a router)
- d) Not sure that the sails are of the best quality? I thought they broke somewhat easy? However, you should know that better than me.
It was for sure the best vacation we ever had!
Hello again Francesca!
Indeed we did have a great time! Thank you very much!
We liked the route that we sailed, it varied a lot, sometimes there were big islands, sometimes small ones and there were different things to do.
Sometimes we sailed just for a little bit before we got to the next island and a few times we had to sail long hours, both was fun!
I think the only thing that i would like to comment on was the generator. Us younger folks had very fun on the trip but felt like the generator was not on enough, now i don't know if it needs to be for safety reasons or anything like that.. But if not then it would have been nice to have it on more, because in some ports it was hard to get short power. And without the short power there was no A/C or way to charge cameras, computers, get on the internet etc. That is the only thing.
The rest of the trip was fantastic! Greece is so beautiful!
Again thank you! I hope to do this again some day!
[Ove and Sara chartered s/y Star II, Atlantic 65, with skipper, from Athens, for 3 weeks in June-July 2010]
My husband did fill out some kind of feedback form on the boat, so hopefully you'll get that at some point. but the basic gist of it would have been that everything was fantastic! we loved it and had a wonderful time. Niko and Elen were great and met all our expectations and more. we felt more than comfortable with Niko's skill and experience and Elen made us the most delicious food. we appreciated, not only their knowledge of the boat and sailing skill, but also their recommendations on the islands. Niko seems to know people everywhere and it made our excursions that much more enjoyable.
We were disappointed that the wind picked up by the end and we had to stay on Naxos for two days and leave a day early to be sure to make our flights in Mykonos, but that was the chance we took so it worked out fine in the end. we were sad to say goodbye early though.
I will try and send you some photos as soon as I have the chance. I started a class the day we got back from our trip so when I'm not at work I find I have to study.
Thanks again for all your help. We will always fondly remember our trip in Greece.

[Sarah and friends / family chartered s/y Arianna with skipper Nikos Vagher, from Syros in June 2010]
It all went fine and the boat was immaculate. Vasillis (sp?) was a master sailor and did all he could to accommodate our itinerary wishes.
There are some pics, but they are not on my computer, I will send them when I get them.
Another year I would love to bareboat. The only thing I really need to practice is "Mediterranean docking."
Thank you for your responsiveness and professionalism. It was greatly appreciated.
[Rob and family chartered s/y Erika, Oceanis 411, from Skiathos, with skipper Vasilis, in July 2010]
Loved it. Junior was awesome. The boat engine breaking Really made me not want to do another week. Plus santorini was too nice. Thanks for all your help.
[Wendy went on a cabin cruise between Mykonos and Santorini.]
All tick boxes - (yacht, condition, inventory, sails, engine, sailing area) = excellent
[Hugh chartered s/y Oto2, Sun Odyssey 37.1 from Athens in May 2010.]
unfortunately I´m back at work!!! after a beautiful honey moon.
Let me tell you that the experience is one of the best experiences I have had in my life...The feeling of being in the yacht (evi) sailing on the cristalines waters, swiming in the middle of nothing and arriving at beautiful ports is just amazing. Our skipper Georgos was just great, was very respectfull, helpfull and of course he did everything in his control to make the trip much better. The whole reception from your team was perfect, I did not feel any inconvinience. In conclusion, Thanks for everything to you and all your team, you help us having a great honey moon.
Here some pictures,

ALOHA Francesca, I was very happy and impressed with Odyssey's attention to detail and helpful attitude. I was even more impressed by the attributes of the vessel. Efkaristo! PRF
[Fotis and friends from USA (Hawaii), chartered s/y Sofia III, Ocean Star 56, from Athens for two weeks].
Having a really great time. Thanos the perfect guide and Alicia a terrific cook!
Just one question: is it usual to tip and if so what's the protocol?
[Hayden and family from the UK, chartered s/y Velos, Ocean Star 56, with skipper and hostess team Thanos and Alicia, in the Ionian islands, in August 2010.]
Hi Francesca – we had a great time, despite the lack of wind. We haven’t forgotten the feedback but have been travelling, so will send something back as soon as we get back home.
Thanks and all the best,
[Paulo and Renata did their RYA sailing courses in Poros in August 2010.]
thanks, everything is ok!
We had a good navigation from Corfù to Peloponneso and back without problems, the boat was a bit old but enough ok, Angela and Tanassis were very good and kind.
I hope to rent another boat in the future, next year we are thinking to rent a catamaran in turkish, but it's a bit early now!
[Mauro, 2nd time client from a sailing club in Italy, chartered s/y Frixos, a Sun Odyssey 42.2 from Corfu, for a total of 8 weeks in July and August 2010].
Thank you for your message.
I just wanted to let you know that it all went well. The boat even though was a bit old it was very well maintained so we had a very good time.
We got a very lengthy tour/ briefing check in by the owners but it was pretty helpful to get us going so that the rest of the week was rather uneventful. At the check out we had no issues - so a very relaxing week at the sporades.
Thank you so much for your help.
All the very best,
[Anna and friends from Greece, chartered s/y El Nino, Dufour 45 Classic, from Volos in August 2010.]
Time flies and before you know it is Christmas. Hence I have to make sure I write to you now as it is important that I let you know that I had a fabulous time on the Blue Planet. Right from the start Rick made Pippa and me feel welcome, with Colin joining, we had an absolutely fab team.
The week was as close to perfect as it can get; Rick gave me a lot of his time, serious training, exercise and as much repetition as the winds allowed. He was patient and answered all my questions whenever asked without hesitation.
He gave me the feeling that he was interested in my training, and helped me remember nautical term. We also had wonderful stop-overs, joint taverna visits and the bbq onboard - really good variation.
It was so enjoyable that I have already asked whether it might be possible to come back next year for the day skipper course; however, I msut get some sea miles covered in the UK before.
Many thanks for your good organisation and assistance. I would readily recommend your company and Rick in particular.
Greetings from the UK, Vivienne.
[Vivienne and Pippa joined Rick Driscoll on s/y Blue Planet from Corfu for a sailing cruise and to do an RYA Competent Crew course, in September 2010.]
Many thanks for your email.
We had a wonderful holiday. The boat was very comfortable and did everything that a boat should do. The service which we received from Greek Isles was first class, from assisting our wives with the shopping, advice and recommendations regarding the boat, what to be aware of, where to go and above all travelling to Kythnos to soothe our nerves after an engine overheated. I cannot speak too highly of Tannisis, Amondro and Constantin ( hope I have spelt their names correctly ). Please give them our regards.
Thank you for everything.
Jim and company chartered m/y Veroi, Cranchi 40 Motor Yacht, from Athens, for 2 weeks in September.
