Dodecanese islands Flotilla from Kos

The combination of some of the better known and more cosmopolitan Greek Islands such Kos, with its noted ancient sites and great beaches, as well as some of the smaller and lesser known gems of the Dodecanese such as Nysiros, Halki or Symi, make this an irresistible proposition for more experienced sailors.

Kos Flotilla Overview

The Kos flotilla explores the beauty of the Dodecanese islands via two different alternating itineraries. This beautiful and historic area has until now been the preserve of savvy bareboat clients, who have already discovered the tremendous amount the area has to offer. The combination of some of the better known and more cosmopolitan Greek Islands such Kos, with its noted ancient sites and great beaches, as well as some of the smaller and lesser known gems of the Dodecanese such as Nysiros, Halki or Symi, make the Kos flotilla an irresistible proposition for more experienced sailors.

You can be virtually assured of some fresh winds, so you will be doing plenty of sailing, with more than enough to keep you occupied ashore in between. Join the Kos flotilla and choose from the  north itinerary featuring Kalymnos and Patmos or alternatively for the southern route, visiting Symi, Tilos and Nysiros before returning to Kos.

Weather conditions

Generally the prevailing wind is from the North / North West and the strength ranges from force 3 to force 6. Stronger sailing breezes can generally be expected in the afternoons, between 2 and 5pm. During the Meltemi season, which is generally late July to the end of August, the winds can be a little stronger, between force 4 to 7 at times, although much of the sailing area is protected by the island so the swell is not too exaggerated.

The Dodecanese is a more challenging sailing area and as such the route is weather dependant. During the summer Meltemi season (normally July and August) a revised itinerary will operate, taking into account the prevailing wind patterns

Getting There

The flotilla base in Kos Marina is approximately 30 minutes from Kos International airport. There are taxis always at the airport and there is a bus to Kos town.
